I have never been so proud to be an American as I am now. To find that we
can overcome our own predjudices and fears to elect a black man with an
Islamic name as our president gives me great hope. Maybe we will choose the
best person to be president, rather than our best white christian
non-disabled male to be our president. We have to be better off when we
expand the possible pool of candidates for this or any other job. Politics
asside, any example of courage and growth brings me joy. I never thought I
would see a black man in the White house, and gas under two dollars a
gallon. They both happened in the same month. I don't know which is more
amazing!
