Another thing to add.  Not that it should have been done but about 5 or so years after my wife and I were married, she admitted that her parents spoke to her before our wedding and told her that she needed to be sure that she was ok with my blindness and that she may be asked to do more than normal since I couldn't see.  I can kind of see where they were coming from.  We got married and just made 24 years.  She is truly awesome.  It also helps that I have a lot of family members that live around me and help too.
