hello guys,

does anyone else here have problems getting chirp to work in windows? I tried both the stable and development versions and I can't get past the opening screen on the program. In fact, I can't even tell whats in the opening screen. Its blank to both jaws and NVDA. It also doesn't present me with the standard elements in the pull down menu (in fact, no pull down menus at all).

I sent this problem over chirp users list as a feature request and bug report. So far, no one has even deigned to respond to it. The last time I tried to report it as a bug, I got a lot of pushback from some of the other users and even the developer (who didn't seem interested in doing anything to change the interface). that was a year ago and as far as I can tell, the attitude is still the same level of indifference as before.

now, since I am totally blind, and the windows machine has no screen, I can't use the program as it currently is configured.

my other request on that list was for some scripts (jaws) that would work with the chirp application. So far, about all I have heard from there is crickets chirping (ha ha bad joke, but true).anyway, can I get a little help convincing the developer of chirp that it would be a good idea to make the program a little more user friendly to the blind ham. I don't happen to have a linux machine here right now (its broken on account of a power surge caused by lightning. and right now, I can't even get a live distribution of linux to load on the windows machine (I have no access to the BIOS to change those settings). THe screen on the windows machine is also broken, so visual help is rather unusable.

anyway, if any of you have any ideas on how to get around this I would appreciate it.
