Hi;
I just tried adjusting it from the system tray which was probably my 
mistake.
I have downloaded winamp and by coincidence the volume for the most part is 
much better.

Hi Richard.

Did you try adjusting the volume in Windows Media Player using the F10 key
or did you just adjust it from the Volume Control in the System Tray?  If
you didn't adjust it from WMP, you should try that before doing anything 
else.
