There isn't always some one on those repeaters to ask, I've run in to that. 
Not always some one going your way. I won't say it happens often and ham 
radio is first for me with GMRS second but I'll listen to CB if I have to. 
If I had kids, I probably wouldn't but there are those times when it comes 
in handy. I know about what you mean though, it's the same everywhere 
unfortunately, no one's legal and it's really not even fun but during the 
day it's a good way to get traffic and stuff and like when I go to CT to 
visit my sister I'll check while leaving at 4 or 5 AM to see what's out 
there for traffic. Traffic reporters are always off by about 45 minutes I've 
found if not more some times. I don't think I'd miss that feature in my F6A, 
but it's nice to listen to in times like that. I even have a radio here I 
could hook up if I want to ask about the route we're going though I don't 
think I've done that twice in the last 10 years just due to the idiots. It's 
a lot quieter than it was though.
