Help, I really need help deciding what to do. A couple of years ago I was
treated for h.pylori with Biaxin and Prilosec. There was no post test so I
don't know how beneficial the treatment was. Recently I had a stool test and
tested positive for c-difficile bacteria...the doctor said it was caused from
taking Biaxin so he prescribed vancomycin.....I took it and lost more
weight...I finished taking the vancomycin on August 21 and I still have
diarrhea. Yesterday I had an upper GI Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy (after
taking a laxative!) to find out why I am losing so much weight...I am 6 feet
tall and weigh 118 pounds. The nurse called today and said I tested positive
for h. pylori. She said I have two options: 1: Take pepto bismal, Flagyl
(deadly??) and tetracycline...lots of it for 2 weeks....option 2: take
Previcid, Biaxin and amxoycillian(?)...lots of it for two weeks.
I don't think I can survive taking all of the antibiotics.....once you start
taking the stuff....you have to keep taking it. I am so scared...I don't
know what to do....I am afraid of the antibiotics.....any ideas?....anyone
else know of an alternative solution? Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Carolyn, AZ
