Many thanks to the 9 people who all responded yes. Here are excerpts.

All first degree relatives which should include grandkids those with no
symptoms have blood test those with symptoms have biopsy

Have the kids tested pay for it yourself if the insurance won't cover

Convince your kids to be tested and their kids and other family members
many people have no symptoms. U of Maryland Baltimore is doing a study
get family tested in the interest of science

Have the same problem son will not be tested and will not test grandson
who is very small and has gastro problems

Sometimes short stature only symptom

Can skip generation happened in family

Many studies cite short stature as only symptom

Believe celiac partly genetic but can arise in person genetically
predisposed

Grandchildren will at least have knowlege celiac is in their lineage.

Might use information in years from now, even if parents chose not to
act today

I reviewed the Cel-Kids archives and found a summary of short stature
responses datedMarch 19, 1999.

I really appreciate your responses and the many words of encouragement
I plan to send the full text of the responses to both my children.
