the hunter-gatherer cultures he visited?

Otherwise, the alternatives are to visit a good library - specifically
a University library that grants degrees in Dentistry, and start the
hard work of plowing through the dental journals.

P.S. I think MEDline - the medical database - includes dental journals,
so that would be a good place to start a literature search.
