I don't know if this one counts under 'preservation' stories, but back in my
babysitting days I remember a story that I used to read aloud to one of the
girls I watched. I believe the title was _And the Relatives Came_ or some such
thing, and it was by the author Sylvia Rylant, I think. I remember thinking
how much I liked the story because it really captured the feeling of place, in
a pithy, poetic way that was interesting to both kids and adults. And the
illustrations were great.
