Nothing strange to me if your OS is win95. I was having trouble (really big one)
for a while, then it was just gone for no reason, as they came for no reason.

No, doesn't sound like.

Maybe, I know heat could cause problems to CD-ROM, not sure for HD (i believe
so). 48C sounds a bit hot.
