Hi Michael, I have 3 56k Winmodems, two are in use. I have had the exact same
problems. Have you gone to System Properties and then to Device Manager and see if
there is the great yellow question mark and a + next to it, if so open other
devices and see if it shows a modem. If it does highlight the modem and click on
remove it and then close System Properties and restart. When your PC restarts it
should prompt you for the drivers. If that works for you, it is possible you will
receive two errors after you reboot from installing the drivers, just click ok on
both prompts and it should work fine. If so just E-mail me personally and I 'll
explain on removing the error prompts or if this does not work, I have a few other
options of making your PC recognize your modem. USR-3Com never were able to help
me install the modem, they sent "special drivers " and it still did not work. You
do not want remove the com 2 from Device manager, it has to be disabled in cmos.
Hope this helps.
