I, also, want to know, how did we get this party line?   It seems different to
me than the usual in-group backscratching you get in other trade or
affiliation groups.  It's more ... political.  And even beyond that, it's sort
of messianic - I think especially of mid-century Socialist and Communist
movements, or even - Citizens - the French Revolution - which brooked no free-
thinking.

Is Bill Higgins a lurker?  I bet he would have an interesting observation,
since he's been hip deep in it for 20 years, but still has spurts of free-
thinking.
