Dan,
Thanks for the info. May still need to do it. Tonight I went back and
tried doing straight Win95 OSR2 install with the new drive as master using
LBA. Here is what happened. It did show 6183mb on bios info screen, and
subsequently on fdisk and reformatted ok. But that was <after> I changed
a jumper on the pins. (The jumper *was* set to a special master setting in
the accompanying pamphlet that was only supposed to be used with bios boot
hanging - that was a mistake on my part).

BUT *now* the problem is this:

After
                        formating new hard drive with _ a:\format c:\ /s
                        and installing Win95

Upon bootup, after splash screen, just before GUI kicks in I get error
message:

While initializing device: VXDLDR: Windows protection error.
                        You need to restart.

This was the second time I formatted and installed Windows to this drive
(at this session). Win95 did not load GUI the other time either. Scan
disk found and fixed bad clusters between installs.

Any ideas? Hard Drive is 6.4 Maxtor Diamond using LBA with OSR2 Win95.
