I think it can also give false negatives if the child has not yet been
exposed to the allergen.  My son RAST tested negative to the 5 or 6
things they tried including milk to which he was definitely allergic at
the time (he immediately had severe reflux and bloody stool when I
tried reintroducing a tiny bit into my diet at 6 months while nursing
him).
