Mike, regarding the two automatic antenna tuners you are considering, I own
one of the LDG AT1000PRO II tuners and really like it a lot. However, your
decision needs to take into consideration the transceiver you are using. The
LDG tuner does not have a direct interface with the Kenwood transceivers,
while the MFJ 998 does from my understanding. For that reason, I would
probably lean toward the MFJ tuner if you are using one of the Kenwood rigs.
However, having said that, I use a Kenwood TS-590 with my LDG AT1000PRO II
tuner with absolutely no difficulty and find it very useable.

Our good friend, Tom, went through this same issue not too long ago, and so,
I think Tom's insights would be extremely helpful here too.

Subject: ATUs

Hi all:Â
Has anyone got any experience with the LDG Electronics AT-1000 Pro or
MFJ-998 ATUs? I'm considering 1 of these tuners and I'm wondering how do you
pass through to a dummy load etc for amp tune up. Whats the matching like
with regards to throwing any kind of antennas at them? I'm also looking at
building a 260 foot 12 guage long wire for 160M and I'm wondering how these
ATUs might do with this type? TNX and 73: Mike DE VO1AX
