Mike,

No experience here with the lDG, but I did see Ron's post and know
others on the list have the LDG. I do have an MFJ-998 since 2008 with
no problems. I don't think the interface is an issue since you use that
boat anchor yaesu.

The LDG is rated a little less power wise than the MFJ, but the LDG
covers 6 meters and the MFJ doesn't.

As for a long wire: Don't know what provisions on the LDG, but the MFJ
has a connection for single wire feed. There are 2 coax connections
(ant 1 and ant 2) and the single wire post. however the single wire
and ant 1 are in parallel, so it is either/or. You can't have both a
long wire and coax on ant 1 at the same time.

I have no idea how it will tune a long wire, all my antennas are
reasonably close to resonant.

I use an Alpha Delta 4 position coax switch to switch between low band
dipole, hex beam, 30 meter GP, and a dummy load. I'm connected via ant
1 on the tuner and do all switching via the 4 position switch.

BTW, I hope in the next day or so to extract some audio from our chat
Saturday night on 40 meters. I have more than 1 e-mail address here
for you,so let me know what to use when I send the .wav file.
