I had a Gonset GSB 100 in the mid 70s, and the carrier suppression was quite stable. And the wonderful thing about that transmitter was that I could read the dial with my Optacon.

I often wish there were more phasing rigs around to offset the rather disappointing audio experience on phone. A major reason for this is trying to listen through cohclear implants where there are strange harmonic distortions that make voices scratchy.
