Well, you can also add in there that your supposed authorized repair 
facility should have saved the packing material, particularly if it would 
prove a case that the item was damaged in transit.

The problem you got here is I assume the repair facility is in a different 
state than you are.  This would likely mean a federal case.

I would send a letter to UPS management, and if you don't get any 
satisfaction, then contact your state consumer protection agency.  You can 
always join ups facebook page and tell your story there.  I assume you 
bought extra insurance to cover beyond the first $100 UPS covers?
