I can't comment specifically about your model of amp, but when I had just
bought my Henry 5K I made the mistake of laying my forearm on the top, and
it was so hot that it blistered my skin. We took the top cover's
temperature with my infrared temperature gun, and it read 325F.

Subject: Amplifier heat

Hi all:

Last week when I tested the KW-1000 HF amp, it got pretty warm during the
CW tune up. Not to hot to touch but pretty hot. I wouldn't wanna leave my
hand on the top. I could feel the hot air blown up the top and the little
sight I have, allowed me to see the Orange glow of the 2 572B tubes. My
previous amps never got that warm unless I turned on the processor and they
ran 3-500Zs. To my knowledge, my buddies proc wasn't on.
Is all this normal? My Almer says an amp isn't making power if it isn't
warm. Lol
