right, so a single press puts you in reverse, and press and hold for a 
second goes into scan mode.

the scan speed is really slow though so this feature isn't much use I find.
Much better to use a cheap radio shack basic scanner with all the local ham 
frequencies programmed in if you want to scan for active repeaters to use.

BTW, the key below the zero, the pound or number sign, also toggles between 
high and low power when in channel mode only.
single press is the power toggle, and press and hold is the keypad lock 
toggle.
