One other suggestion.

MFJ makes a box that when placed between a tuner and a rig transmits noise
thru a coupler into the rig.

When the tuner is tuned to fifty ohms there is nul heard in the noise coming
from the receiver.

The model number on tis box is MFJ-212.

It should work with most manual tuners.

Hope this is of some help.
