Subject: [PCBUILD] non functional DVD drives

I built a system a couple years ago that is recently causing me to tear
my hair out. Basic system config:

    Vista Ultimate
    ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
    3GB Ram
    Thermaltake Tsunami Case
    2 x WDC250 GB SATA Disks (raid 0)
nVidia Geforce 7950 GX2 Graphic card
AMD 4800+ 2.4GHz Dual Core CPU
    600W Thermaltake PS
    Hauppage HVR-2250 Tuner
2 x DVD writer drives on Parallel IDE port

Two weeks ago both of the DVD drives quit working, read or write. The
system reports an inability to load the drivers for these devices. In
the BIOS they appear normal. I have tried everything I can think of
which is a lot as I am reasonablby experienced (30 years) bulding these
things. The failure doesn't directly relate to any system changes or add
ons except ariund that time the disk array was close to full so I
cleaned out recorded TV etc. The I don't think I removed any related
files but a slip of mouse I suppose . . . .

Anyway, does any one know a procedure for determining what files should
be present? Or perhaps another way to trouble shoot this thing? Thank you.
