i've used skype as well for very basic control of the transmitter.
Essentially I used skype and the vox function on the radio to transmit, and
since skype is a full duplex program the audio comes right back to the
remote PC without any issues on SSB.
You just have to make sure the mute button is turned on for the microphone
on the remote computer otherwise you'll key the transmitter with every
little noise.
This doesn't give you control of the radio though, and you would have to use
HRD or something to do that.
