the bose 901's are far too expensive unless you intend on running them at
extreme volume most of the time.
Check out the canadian MTS speakers.
they make several series of tower speakers with a pair of 8 inch woofers and
a 1 inch titanium fluid filled tweeter.
They have excellent flat frequency response from 30 HZ up to around 19000HZ.
unfortunately they do not have a user adjustable cross over frequency
control.  that said, the preset cross over point is pretty decent.  the pair
i have are rated at 250 watts RMS per side.  I have run them with a crown
C1000 pro audio amp at nearly max volume and they've survived without
problems.
anything is preferable to bose speakers...no highs, no lows, must be bose.
you could always invest in a set of the L1 mark II speakers with their 24
separate drivers and built in amplifiers.
that is, if you got 3000 bucks per side to blow.
