    Thanks for all the education.  Lots to learn and I appreciate it.  I 
went ahead and ordered a vertical so will get to find out how much better 
things are.

    The one repeater I mentioned is white noise.  I will ask a local ham 
about that one.  Its over 100 miles to the south.  Just curious about it.  2 
other repeaters I can pick up are both 50 miles, in different directions. 
We have lots of big hills in the way.  LOL

    So the story goes....

Don't spend two dollars to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the Salvation 
Army instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger - Next morning buy it 
back for seventy-five cents.
