    Bobby:

I owned and used a Buddipole antenna for my HF set-up in a camper for a
while, and I'd say you basically have the right idea. However, I will tell
you that I eventually sold the antenna because it simply was too hard for me
to set up the coil taps and whip lengths exactly right so that I'd get
consistent tuning results on my preferred operating frequencies.

Perhaps you are a much better person than I, and will have better luck with
the antenna than I did.

My experience was that when it worked, it really worked, although tuning it
effectively was a problem which I never quite solved.

Here's the address of Budd Drummond (W3FF), the actual maker of the
Buddipole antenna system:

When you write to him, feel free to use my name and call, because Budd spent
a great deal of time working with me, trying to get my Buddipole system to
work well. Through it all, I do think he came to understand some of the
realities that blind hams like us face when trying to use an antenna system
like this.

Hope this helps at least a little, and please keep us posted on how you do
with the Buddipole.
