I think the TS600S was a cosmetic match to the Kenwood TS700S, which was a 
state of the art base all mode radio in the latter 1970s.  That same friend 
that had the Icom IC502, also had the TS700S.  That radio was hot stuff in 
its day, but not nearly as good as the stuf that came out in the next decade.
