The problem of the hot mic was not unique to my radio, it was a real problem
that Kenwood had to address. The mod is on Kenwood's web page and I think
only the early mc53's had this hot mike problem because future productions
of the mc53 were fixed. I bought my v7 back in '95 soon after the v7 went to
market.

I discovered the problem soon after I turned on mike control and was digging
through my toolbox and my radio kept switching from vfo to memory. I
discovered I could use the telephone or another ht's dtmf tones to control
the radio. I took the mic back to HRO and they did the mod for me at know
charge.

73, Ken -N5SWR

wow, I never had that problem with my MC-53, you must really have funny
noises in your shack or something.
