Hi Jerry.
I almost envy you. That radio had a first class receiver in it. I had the
original '751 back in 1988, and the receiver was hot on it. The original
Icom IC751 had some real reliability issues and that is why I ended up
getting rid of it--in fact I didn't even make it off the warranty before I
had sent it back for repair three times. On the third pass, I told AES to
keep it and send me a Kenwood TS680S instead, which they did.
When it worked, though, it sounded great. The receiver was quite sensitive
and the noise was nice and low on that radio.
I think you'll have fun, and I've been told by a number of people that Icom
really cleaned up the problems with that radio when they came out with the
"A" version.
