Yeah, store some freqs and you'll be able to hear the low beep on #1.  Since
you don't have any memories programmed then when you go to memory mode it
will be memory #1 that is selected.  You can not delete memory #1.  So to
store the first memory first set up the vfo, then just press [f] followed by
memory recall.  To store #2 set up the vfo then press [f] then click once to
the right and press memory recall.

Hi Ken,

What you are saying makes good sense.  I guess you really need to have
stored something in memory 1 before you can do this.  I can't seem to locate
a 
low beep for channel 1, but I don't have anything stored in the memories
yet.
