I was in my mid teens. It was Christmas day. they were yelling at me up
stairs, I was in the basement, to get upstairs to open presents. I was on
15 meters. What do you mean, hurry up. I'm working DX here. Hold your
horses. I heard him, as I tuned the band, and punched out my call a few
times. Bingo! He answered me. I nearly jumped out of my chair from
excitement. It was country number 100 for me using dipole wire antennas.
It was a YO but I don't recall the rest of his call sign. That sure was a
cool Christmas for me and I'll never forget it. I was running a Drake TR4
back then. I felt like the biggest DXER on the bands that day and went
upstairs and unwrapped my gifts but the thrill from working that YO was all
I needed for Christmas that day.
