correction: You will still need an ethernet cable, as
both DSL and cable use a modem. Probably you will have
a choice between USB or ethernet. The modem will
connect to the PC by one of these. The main physical
difference between cable and DSL modems is that DSL
has to be connected to a phone line, where cable will
have the coaxial cable connected.

Although both have advantages and disadvantages, one
advantage of DSL is that you (usually) will also have
a back-up dial account, so that if you are away from
home, or the DSL is down for any reason, you can still
get online.

Either of these are WAY better than Dial-up!
