Colin,

The 480 manual says that you'll have trouble if your SWR is greater
than 10 to 1.  I don't know for certain, but I suspect most internal
tuners have less tolleranc3e for high SWR than some of the older
external tuners because they don't use tuning capacitors.  That's how
they can be crammed into such small radios.  Those tuning capacitors
take up lots of space, especially if you want them to handle higher power.
