Hi Fred.

You do not actually want to perform impedance transformation with the
balun, as the ladder line is actually doing that for you, so a 1 to 1
should do the job.  Personally, I've run them without a balun.  In fact, my
last balun got struck by lightning and I ran the coax straight into the 450
ohm ladder line with no balun when I put the antenna back up, and it works
fine.  I would, however, echo the comment about being certain to use stand
offs when bring the ladder line down the tower.
