Helen, You're really getting into this! What fun!

You know, I do have a funny story to relate about proverbs as well. At
our church we will often have someone be willing to offer a prayer for
Greg before he preaches, no comment Phil, (GRIN,) and the prayer is
usually accompanied with a verse of scripture. Well, the lady who kind
of heads this up asked this really sweet old guy to offer the prayer one
Sunday and she asked him to also share the verse, Proverbs 19: 23 which
reads, "The fear of the Lord leads to life: then one rests content,
untouched by trouble." Well, this guy misunderstood and thought that he
had been asked to read Proverbs chapters 19 through 23 and so he
proceeded to do just that. This guy could hardly stand and by the end
hewas shaking all over. He'd stop every once and a while and make a
comment like, "I don't know why I'm reading all this," but then would
pick up where he had left off and keep going. People started trying to
assure him that he had read enough and that it really would be okay if he
gave up and sat down, but being a full fledged Mainer, there was no way
that he was going to backdown from his commitment. Finally, we all just
gave up and started praying for God to give him the strength to make it
through. This gentleman is really failing healthwise right now, but
every time I think of those four chapters, they have become rather
special to me for a rather unusual reason.
Kathy
