What Sandy is referring to concerning our daughter is where she is in her
diversionary two year program.  To remind you, the two years of diversionary
would allow her to pay for drug and alcohol classes and if she stayed clean,
at the end of the two years, they would erase her name from the police
computers.  This program started last June.  Gretchen was to pay about 162
dollars a month for four years to the program but she has made no payments
and she has not had a job for over a year.  Soon she will have to go back
before the diversionary board to explain her behavior and why she has not
been making her payments and why she has no job and no place to live.  She
is thinking she will just skip that board meeting and go before the court in
hopes the judge will just give her probation.  The judge can put her in jail
for up to 5 years since she was arrested for drug possession and with the
intent to distribute.  She would not be allowed to serve her time in a
county jail but would have to go to a state prison.  She could go to a half
way house with a work release program but living in half way houses is worse
than prison time they say because they have so many more rules.  Gretchen is
coming to the end of her rope, in other words, and she very likely, unless
some judge feels sorry for her, and that is unlikely, is going to do some
jail time.
