I stand corrected. We were in the last throes of one that came ashore
on South Padre Island. We were up in Zapata, but I watched the eye of it pass
and watched the palms blow and turn 360 degrees in about 30 minutes. Our main
problem was putting up the evacuees from the lower Rio Grande Valley. My
in-laws had a motel at that time. It was tense and desperate at times.
