Hunting plants is a heck of a lot easier then hunting meat. Also man
developed in a certain area, man will be adapted to foods there. Plants
can be gathered even by pregnant women and together with small children.
 It would  be a waste to NOT gather plants.
In nature nothing ever gets wasted.
