When birds fly close to a window, the reflection on
the window appears to be a continuation of the
landscape because birds cannot distinguish between a
reflection and the real thing.

We once had a hawk fly into our window after swooping
down for prey. People who put bird feeders too close
to their window may also notice birds bumping into the
window.

A good deterent to birds flying into the window is
using a sillouhette of a bird of prey on the window.
It will block your view though.

What might appear as a bird getting drunk and flying
into a window is more likely the innate problem of the
bird not being able to disgtinguish between a
reflection and an actual landscape while in flight.

best,
