I currently have the exact same setup as you are trying to achieve and I
run it with no problems. My reasoning is I started with Win 98 and
slowly working my way to WinXP pro, at which time I will kill Win 98 and
go with XP solely. XP pro is a much more stable OS, atleast for me.
My setup is only different from yours in that I have each OS on a
different physical hard drive. The thing I did with mine is get a boot
manager, like BootMagic, and load it onto Win XP. There is an option in
Bootmagic that will "hide" each OS from the other one. So what happens
is eventhough when I do the installs, XP goes on the C partition and 98
goes on the D partition, when you boot into an OS, it thinks it is the C
drive and doesn't know the other is there.
Hope this helps and makes sense.

G'day John,
I'll wager that I'm not the only one on this List to wonder why you
should want
to do such OS gymnastics.
My first thought, was that the richest man in the World has done his
best to
stop you, - yet you persist. Good Luck, but I fear you are doomed to
failure

Personally, W98SE does all I need, and I would only consider using WXP
if it
was free.
(fat chance there)

I'll also wager that a great many of us home-builders looking for
another
challenge, are considering dual-booting with some distro of Linux, - and
very
probably, some of us (not me, just yet) are experimenting with Windoze
Emulators under Linux.

I'm curious to see how fellow List-members interpret your question.
I admire your effort in trying !

Kevin,
New Zealand.
