Hi,

check if the modem is a new .v92 model, if it is:

1) remove it physically from system.
2) remove all modem device drives from device manage ( in safe mode)
3) install the modem drivers from the cd that came wiiht the modem, before
you install the modem    in the system.  You may have to browse the cd for
the setup program and/or set up text files
4) install the modem in the system physicaly

Newer modems seem to be going this route fro installation
