Re: water filtration context question -- I have located a great book
that gives a broader context for water filtration and other public works
projects by Martin Melosi of University of Houston- The Sanitary City,
2000, John Hopkins Press. Good for other weird people who like to read
about sewers, water filtration, etc.

Thanks for your help and comments.
Jennifer

Jennifer -
In NC we have two - that I know of - on the National Register. The
1887-1940 Raleigh Water Works and E. B. Bain Water Treatment Plant and
the
1920s Elizabeth City Water Treatment Plant. Both are listed under local
significance and neither nomination goes beyond development of a local
context. If you wish, I'd be glad to send you copies.
