i think of those on this list, the ones that were most active in our
younger years, have the most orthopedic problems now. i did everything i
every wanted to do except parachoot from a plan. and if the little blond
that i was trying to impress at the time by asking her to do it with me had
agreed (actually her mother did not want her dating me, not her fault) i
would have done that too.
so my advice to you younger ones, don't over do it, but, then again you
have to do enough to keep yourself healthy. i guess you'll have to figure
out a balance between what is not enough and what is too much.
the only study did under a grant from CDC estimates that cper's show age
problems 15-20 years before their TAB counterparts. i forgot what doctor at
Syracuse did the study.

Kathy Jo:

As we've said here before, not by itself, no, it doesn't. But in moving
abnormally, we put a lot of wear and tear on our bodies and that's not good
in the long run. It's especially evident in those of us who were really
physically active in our younger years, I think. In my case, I did
everything in my teens through 30's: hiking, volleyball, softball, swimming,
etc., etc. You name it, I did it. So now I have severe osteoarthritis in
my hip joint and knees, and am in a wheelchair. I wore my body out.

Sure, everybody goes through wear and tear on the body, disabled or
non-disabled, but as I said, it's worse in those of us who don't move the
"correct" way and do too much, and the damage is faster and more severe.
