As a ham and having been on both ends of a lot of RFI situations, I honestly
have to say that I'm appalled that you'd speak even halfway approvingly of
disobeying the specific instructions that are given on every commercial
flight regarding the in-air use of FM radio equipment. If your boyfriend
was so upset over an oil leak and yet wasn't bothered by such obviously
illegal conduct as you've outlined here, I'd say he's very selective about
his paranoia.
