I used to use a Johnson-Viking Matchbox to tune my antenna. Still have
it. I had out-sized disks made that fastened onto the dials such that
every five numbers corresponded to a line (the dials were marked 0-100).
I had a sighted person help me tune things up at various points across
the various bands and constructed a chart such that I could adjust
things myself afterword. I also got fairly used to how my rigs acted so
that I could do some tweaking myself. There were broad noise peaks when
things were tuned up properly, also.

Another trick is to use an antenna noise bridge -- dunno if they're
still made but you set the thing for 50 ohms and tune for a null in the
receiver noise (at least that's what I remember). Wish I had one.

Just some thoughts.
