Hi Rick, yes it can, in fact if I remember right, you can use the Coppermine
core chip on that board. I have the BX6 r1, and can't. I am running a PIII
600 as I type, fastest for my board. It is the early 512cache model, but
beats the old PII 233 that was in there previously.
As to getting a bios update, I don't know where else you can get one other
than ABIT. I'm sure another lister will say so if they know of a place. I
heard a week or two for repairs to the cable.

Hello all,
I have an ABIT 440BX R.2. According to the manual it can only support up to
a 500 mhz chip. Can the bios be upgraded to accept faster chips??? If so
where can I get them??(I tried ABIT site but it seems a underwater cable has
been cut and parts of their site is not available)
