<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> For all of you who've had a hard time finding a tortilla maker -- Today at Target I bought a "tortilla griddle," which is like a little, round, flat, wrought iron skillet. It was on the end of one of the cookware aisles. The UPC is 26161 11002. I have one of the electric ones, and have never been satisfied with it -- takes too long to cook and doesn't really brown the tortillas. I have tried using a regular skillet and was happier with the end result. Anyhow, I am looking forward to testing this out. It was under $10, and should do the trick even here in NM where we can buy fresh corn tortillas really, really cheap -- but you don't get that wonderful aroma like you do from home-cooked ones. With one of these and my little rolling pin that looks like a 8" piece of a 2" dowel, I should be all set! Nah, I don't like baking gadgets! Besides, those of us who have to bake all our baked goods ourselves can amortize the cost out till it costs practically nothing per use. Also, any hints regarding all-liquid, then soft diets following major, major mouth surgery would be appreciated.
