Hi Listmembers:
I am chairwoman for a celiac-sprue support group and am interested in
any information that would explain the best way to do the
gluten-challenge. Many of our members were not diagnosed with celiac-
sprue through antibody testing or endoscopy (the gold standard for
celiac disease). This has presented a problem as to whether they are
really celiac patients. Many check the internet and find that if a
person goes on the strict gluten-free diet, they will feel a lot better.
So they do this without realizing that the small intestine is now
healing and antibody blood screening can now become negative.
Has anyone attempted the gluten-challenge? Could you let me know how
long this was done, what products were consumed and the outcome?
