The loaf, which was imported from the United States, bears the UPC 0 75119 14572 0. It is possible that the product contains the bacteria responsible for Botulism in humans. Botulism is a life-threatening illness caused by the build-up of toxins produced by Clostridium botulinum bacteria. The importer is recalling the affected lot from the marketplace. The product has only been distributed in the province of Quebec. Food contaminated with C. botulinum bacteria may not look or smell spoiled. If consumers have any remaining product they should return it to the point of purchase. The product should not be consumed by humans or animals.
