<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hello Everyone! I have always thought that the fruit aisle was the safest area of the supermarket, but now I'm not so sure............ I was delighted to see fresh figs available yesterday, but then noticed that they had a film of white dust on the surface. The attendant who checked for me and said that it was not part of the fruit itself, but a dusting used during transport which MIGHT contain wheat flour. Needless to say, I didn't buy them and unfortunately I was so taken aback that I even forgot to check the country of origin. I thought I should alert others to this potential problem. Does anyone (say, from a fig-growing country or involved in fruit export/import) know what this dusting actually is? Is it GF? Is it used on other fruit also? I would love to know more about this and I'll summarize replies. Best GF wishes to all, Liz (Ward), Dublin, Ireland.
